Championship game!

It was the day of the championship game for the girl's team. All the team was nervous but at the same time happy. There were a lot of people there to see the game which I think was maybe a bigger reason to them to be nervous.  When the girls found out who they were facing they gained fear but they yet gained courage because they were facing "Chivas" their archrival. They’re the arch rival because they have faced that team many times and there have been some problems with the players and with the coaches.

The game was ready to start they just needed the ref to blow the whistle.  The ref blew the whistle, the girls had the ball, and they passed it to each other till they got close enough to the goal. Then she dribbled it through the middle and shot ……. It was in. goal scored by the captain of the girl’s team in the first minute of the game. Then the other team received the ball. They took it through the girl’s middle then the defense was next. They passed through the defense and had a clear shot to shot, then he shots and score the goal in the top right corner. After that the score was 1-1 tie game. Then there was just one minute left and the girls had the ball they took it through the left side of the field gave a long through pass then she shot and….. The shot hit the left post then to hits the right post and gets out of the goal. Then there was 20 seconds left and the other team had the ball, they took the defense had a clear shot and 5.4.3.2. Goal. The girls were devastated they had worked so hard and ended up losing in one second. The girls ended up in second place but were nothing happy up in the dressers it was total silence the girls wanted to cry as soon as the coach tried to cheer them up some girls busted up in tears. It was not a happy day for them. After this some girls were invited by a park to play for them in the city finals. They accepted that’s what I’m going to cover in the next posts.

Playoffs (quarter final and semi final)

After their last season game they had a two week break, and then they started the playoffs. The girls ended up the season in third place, so they faced sixth place in the quarter final.

Quarter Final. So in the quarter final they faced sixth place. This game was difficult for the girls because they were all nervous and two girls did not get to the game in time. The game started and the girls had the ball they took the ball through the middle of the field, but then the ball was intercepted by the opposing team. The opposing team had the ball through the left side of the field, and then passed it to the right. Then back to the other side and shoot and they score. The girls were now down by one goal. Then the girls had possession of the ball, they then took it through the left side of the field in a rush and got fouled a little far from the penalty box. Then the team captain had a good place to shoot. The moment builds some suspense in the middle of the game. Then she shot and… she scores. The score was now one to one and now there was only fifteen minutes to go. The other team had possession but their possession was lost fast when the girls intercepted the ball. Then the girls took it through the right side and then passed it through the middle, then to the left, and back to the middle and shoot and they score in the bottom left corner of the net. This was the winning goal it was a good play. So this win guaranteed them to go to the semi- final.

In the semi-final the girls faced the second place team. This was going to be the best game they had ever played I think since there was a rivalry between the two teams. The rivalry was between some girls in the girls’ team with two girls that joined the other team. The game started and the girls had the ball, they took crossed to the opposite side and took a shot and… missed by a little bit. Then the opposite team gained possession and took it all the way through the left side and took a shot and… also missed. The game kept going like this until the end. So that meant they were going to penalties. The girls were the first to shoo then the other team. The penalties were five shoots per team and if they were tied at the end they went to sudden death (when I team gets ahead of the other after each one had an equal chance). So the girls tied at the end of the penalty round 4-4. So it was sudden death. The girls were up first. The captain was next she got ready then shot and... Scored in the top left side. Then the other team was next to shoot, so they shoot and… the shot was blocked by the goalie. So this meant that they were going to the championship game.

Games 7-10

Since I have to show four games instead of the normal two, I have to make them a little shorter than usual. I am doing this to catch up.

The 7^th game. In the seventh game the girls played the last place. The girls were currently in second place since they lost to the first place. When the game started the girls were happy because they were thinking of winning the game by more than five goals. The game started and the girls had the ball they took the ball through the middle and passed it to the captain. The captain took everyone in the defense and even took the goalie and went in the goal with the ball. That was great goal. The captain in the team is my sister. She started playing soccer since she was eight. Then she didn’t like it and stopped for two years, but eventually she missed soccer and started again. She is really good, and currently twelve years old. She has soccer in her blood because for four generations our family has been playing soccer.  Continuing with the game. The game resumed and they scored again, again, again, and again. They scored five goals less than four minutes. The girls were playing great while enjoying it. So the girls at the end won by a landslide with a score of 17-0. These games I don’t like because there kind of boring playing when there is no challenge. The captain scored nine of the seventeenth goals.

The 8^th game. In the eight games the girls went versus the third place which was second before the girls were second. Also if the girls win this game they would go to first because the first place team lost. So the game started and the other team had the ball and had the ball stolen by the girls’ team. The girls’ team took the ball like always and did their usual play and scored a goal. I think that play is like their key move that they always score when they do it. That particular play that they do they practice a lot in practice each time. So the score was 1-0, the girls winning.  Well the game continued back and forth without any one scoring.  But when there was five minutes left the girls made a good play and scored a beautiful goal.  They passed it back and forth confusing the defense then scored in the top right corner of the goal. So the final score was 2-0.

The 9^th game. In the ninth game the other team didn’t go so they won by forfeit. The girls were mad because they didn’t play. This is one of the reasons which I’m writing this post as one not as two.

The 10^th game.  In the tenth game the girls went versus the sixth place in a league of fifteen players. The game started and the girls had the ball. They took the ball through the middle, passed it back, then shot and scored a great goal. The girls were leading by one. Then the other team scored with a great play. So the play was that they started in half court then lifted it up almost all the way to the penalty mark then they volleyed it. This was one of the best plays I seen in their games, But the only bad thing it was that the other team scored. The game continued and finally at the last minute the girls score a miraculous goal. So they won this game. The Girls are now currently in first place. Also the games are current now.

2010 Christmas-New Years tournament.

The girls were giving a break in the regular league but they were entered in the 2010 Christmas-New Year’s tournament which is a separate league they play in Cicero fields. They entered the tournament but just five players of their team. They made up the rest of the team with boys from their brother team, so they could make up a better team. They played three games in Christmas and depend on where they were in the table they went to the championship match or third place.
In the first game the girls lost versus a team named Rebanito it is a Spanish word and not sure what it means. So the girls lost this game 2-0. I think one reason they lost this game because the boys and girls aren’t accustomed to play along with each other.
In the second game they won 20-0 versus team named Sabot. This game they really, really played great. In this game they now knew how to play with on another. The girls contributed mostly in this game because the girls were defense almost all the time and the captain of the girls’ team was captain of that team too, and she scored 10 goals. That is a lot of goals. That could be a record.  
In the third game they played a team called Rebanito B and won 17-0 this was a killing spree. If you add up all the games the team scored a total of 37 goals. That is a lot because the average of goals scored in game is 3.
So the team passed to the championship match they played it in New Year’s 1/1/11. They played Rebanito again because Rebanito was in first place and the team in second place. The girls won 9-2. The girls played way different than the first time they played versus them. They were champions of the 2010 Christmas-New Year’s tournament.

THe 5th and 6th game

5^th game. In the fifth game the girls played versus the team that was in sixth place. The girls were currently in second after defeating the second place in the game before this game. The   game started the girls in a sky blue and red shirt with nay blue shorts. The other team in a red striped shirt with solid black shorts. The girls had possession of the ball and started to pass it to each other. The girls took the ball through the middle then passed it to the left side, then centered the ball to their teammate but blocked by the goalie. So it is a corner kick for the girls they center it again and…. Goooal. The girls score a goal. Then the boys take possession of the ball and take it through the left side, they pass it back. They are intercepted by the girl’s defense.  After ten minutes the team still continues trying to score a goal but cannot. The girls then have a chance, they have the ball in the enemy’s half an start taking it by the left side then they change the ball to the right, they then pass it to the middle and shoot…..and they score again. They end the game it that goal because there was just two more minutes left and it was almost impossible for the other team to score a goal. The game does end at that and the girls leave victorious with a 2-0 score and I think they need good luck for the next game because they are going versus first place. That game is going to be very good because the girls are one point from the first place so if they beat them they go up to first place.

6^th game. The sixth game was the best game I have ever seen them play the both team played great this was the clash of the titans. Before the game started the girls were nervous and were saying that they were going to lose. I thought they had a chance to win but not a big one because the other team is very good. The game started and the other team had possession of the ball, they went straight trough the defense with the series of passes and scored a goal.  The other team was really good they knew how to pass it to each other. Then whenever the girls had possession of the ball the other team always took it from them. Luckily the girls had a good goalie and blocked a lot of shots. Then the chance the girls were waiting for, the captains of the girls took the ball through the defense and was alone with the goalie. She shoots and scores. The game was now tied 1-1 with three minutes left. The other team has possession of the ball and takes it but doesn’t get through the defense luckily for them they get a bad pass and shoot from half court and score. The game briefly ends. The girls lose and also lose their chance for being first place. Even though they lost it was a good game it kept the fans entertained. I  think they are still winners for almost beating an all boys team even though they are girls.

The 3rd and 4th games

The 3^rd game: this game was the best game they have ever played. In this game they played versus their brother team. What I mean by brother is that the other team is from the same club but it is an all boys team. So this game had high stakes. When the game started the girls were nervous like they always were and they with hopes that this would be the game they finally win. So the referee blew the whistle     and the girls had possession of the ball they passed it to one to another in triangle format. After they were in the opposite side they girl with the ball passed it to their captain and the captain shoots and goooal. The girls scored.  When they had scored ten minutes had passed and only twenty five more minutes left. Then the girls scored another goal from inside the goalie box. One minute later the girls scored again. Then again and kept scoring till the score was 13-0. This was a great game for them and at the end of the game the girls started screaming because they were that happy. This game was really good they actually passed the ball real good and had an outstanding defense.  I think they got some good confidence with this game and will continue and win.

The 4^th game this game was a good game for the girls too. So the game they played was versus the second place. So it was a tiring game for the girls. When the game started the other team had the possession of the ball and their star player tried to take score a goal by himself but did not. He was blocked by the captain of the girl’s team. After regaining possession the captain of the girls team takes the ball by the left side of the field all the way to the other goalie box the shoots, and scores. When the game resumes the opposing team has the ball they pass it trying to get pass the girl defense, they fail again. Then ten minutes later the girls when they get possession of the ball they take it through the middle then pass it to the left, then back to the center and they score again.  So the opposing team tries again and again to pass through the girls but didn’t during the whole game. So at the end the score was 2-0. The girls happy and are waiting for the next game. So this was great game especially for the defense.

The 1st and 2nd game.

I missed two games because I didn't have a blog then but I could still summarize the games, so that’s what I am going to do right now.

1^st game. So at the start of the game the girls were nervous and I think they doubted if they could do it. When they started playing the girls were playing rough so they would scare the boys. They actually accomplished it but the other team still managed to score the first goal. Then ten minutes passed and the girls managed to score a goal whit a well managed play by the offense. Five minutes after that goal the girls’ team commits a penalty. The other team scores the penalty with the goalie having no chance to block it. So the score was two to one with the girls’ team losing. So there was two minutes left in the game and the girls were down by one goal. So the team had this one more chance in a free kick with one minute left. The team prepares she shoots but misses it hits the post and the game is over briefly after that. So in their debut it was pretty good for a first game. Even though they lost it was a good game for them because they accomplished to experience playing versus harder teams. Well they played versus an all boys team and the other team was bigger. Also it could be because they were not used to playing as a team yet, the coach had to work more.

2^nd game. In their second game the girls came more prepared and with high hopes to win this time, last time they were close by just one goal. So in the start of the game the girls made an effort for a goal but misses, and the crowd got exited. Six minutes the other team makes an effort and scores. Again three minutes later the other team scores again, so in about fourteen minutes the other team has scored two goals and the girls nothing. In other five minutes girls make an effort but it was blocked by the goalie. Then the boys score one time again after five minutes. The girls look demoralized but are still fighting.  The other team scores again. The score was four to zero. The girls kept fighting till the end but the score stayed the same. I think this was a bad game for the girls because instead of coming more prepared they came less. So I didn’t really work so well.

Background of The Soccer Team/Club

The soccer team I am going to write about is a team which is from Chicago and plays also around Chicago. Well I can't call this team a team because it is like a club. It is like a club because it has many teams not just one, it has about nine teams. It has from the ages of four years old all the way to sixteen years. I can't remember exactly how long since they started playing but they have been playing for about five to six years. They have played in Cicero during the winter in an indoor soccer field. They have also played outdoor soccer in Marquette Park and at curie high school. This team also has been called many names so it does not have one real team name. So the team I am going to focus during my entries is a team that was made this fall and it is an all girls team with the exception of a boy which is their goalie. The “all girls” team was made because there were a lot of girls trying to join the team so they decided to make an "all girls" team. The all girls team is made up of nine through twelve year girls so they play in the “under eleven” boys division. I think this was not a good idea. Even though some of the girls played good they were going versus boys and some boys play rough so they could hurt some of the girls. What they should have done was combine the girls and the boys together to make one team and so it would be even. So the entries are going to be about this girl team that they made which plays currently in Cicero and is trying to win in a boy league.
